Part III: Another Q&A with Wordplay T. Jay

This week, WordPlay T. Jay took some time to answer comments on his YouTube channel.

If you have not already, head over to the channel and give it a sub to get the latest music and marketing advice, as well as content from T. Jay himself as an artist.

On to the questions!

Q: B Natural Studios said, “Love your channel, but the end titles were a fail. Great channel.”

A: Thanks, I'm usually late on the end cards. I'm a busy dude. Maybe I should ask Garret to do them

Q: Luigi Fresh said, “I appreciate this a lot...I was just about to go with Songtrust... but I already distribute thru TuneCore.”

A: Saves you a step!

Q: LaynoProd said, “im dropping a single on the first friday of December, RIP me lol, i got a good rollout plan tho with visual content to follow, hopefully it stands out among the noise.”

A: Maybe, just remember people mostly listen to classic christmas songs. It's not to late to rethink that plan. If not, I'm releasing one too simply because I want to.

Q: N.A.T. asked, “What? Distrokid suggests to use Songtrust? why do they have that “youtube money” option then?”

A: Songtrust gives you the option to use YouTube Content ID through them...its not a required feature to use. Pick what works for you

Q: Fifi Finance said, “Good luck with your journey! Keep going for it and it will come together. I started my channel in the last lockdown. Hard work!😀”

A: Thank you. I started this channel when youtube started...then my second channel in 2017. Now their both combined like captain planet

Q: Lakshya asked, “Is ending a name with 'fy' good?”

A: Sure? does it stand up to the test...a google search and easy for people to remember

Lakshya: @WordPlay T. Jay Well...what do you think..can you give me your opinion

T. Jay: @Lakshya I don't have enough information to give you an opinion...what's the name?

Lakshya: @WordPlay T. Jay Hmm...still thinking of some : maybe- Ignify, Dexify?

Q: The American Indie asked, “did they change their requirements to only people that have youtube partner?”

A: No you just have to go through your distributor now. You don't have to be a partner. You do have to have 3 releases though.

Q: Lit BoxTv said, “Allowing anyone to administer your publishing is giving them a great opportunity to steal from you without you even knowing.”

A: I always recommend to do it yourself...if you cant then audit the people that do every 6 months to 1 year.

Q: hotspotcollecting said, “I love to make a song with you i will be do pop music.”

A: I'm down if it sounds good. Email me wptj@otmmg.com

Q: Charlie Harrison asked, “my band member placed HIS name on bmi as the writer of all MY music I WROTE for two albums I WORTE THE WORDS AND MUSIC... for like 50% of the songs on 2 albums. He has my name nowhere on it but the copyright on the Gov website, where HE has HIS name as a part writer WITH me on songs I WROTE AND MADE 100%

Like Lennon is on the song "yesterday" when that was 100% McCartney. What can I do?”

A: So I'm assuming this guy won't fix it? Then you will have to force the fix, but have documentation of your work and proof of your arrangements. https://www.bmi.com/creators/updateworks <-- Use this link for more info
