Some Q&A with WordPlay T. Jay

Every few weeks, WordPlay T. Jay takes some time to help people on his YouTube channel and answer their questions in the comments, and this is another one of those weeks!

Q: Soul Vevo asked, “I want to add an “About” to my google knowledge panel so how do I do that ?”

A: I've never seen an about section as an option. Bio's do exist but you need to place your bio on several different sites including your own website and make sure people are searching for you and going to those sites.

Q: Rukhsar Official asked, “Hii can you also guide me how to Merge 2 of my Artist Profiles that have been created on Apple Music and Resso ??? Both the Artist Profiles name is same and both have my different songs on the profiles due to which I haven't been able to select one of them and get my profile verified. So please help!!!”

A: who is your distributor?

Rukhsar: I had Collaborated with people and they had given my name so they got my songs Distributed through their Distributors hence I don't know this time I'm planning to go with Distrokid but before that wanted to know how to solve my Resso and Apple Music Artist Profiles problem

A: Search my channel for Apple Music Profile - I don't have a fix for Resso other than you contacting their team and asking them to combine your profiles there. For Apple Music, contact them and ask if those links can be merged, figure out which one you want to be the main profile, then when you release with DistroKid, it will ask you to verify which profile it goes to.

Q: Saúl asked, “If I have distrokid musican plus plan and For my first release it’s a collab between me and my friend how would we both get our separate artist accounts for YouTube ? I know you get it for the other platforms but what if you already have a YouTube account made ? How would me and my friend use our own accounts and not have distrokid make us one ?

A: The only way is to NOT distribute to youtube. This collaboration song will go to YOUR Youtube Generated Artist Channel featuring your friend if you distribute it to YouTube from Distrokid. So bypass distribution to youtube and upload yourself.

Saul: “Also if I upload it myself will I be able to claim that account as a artist account or no ?”

A: Yes you can...you just have to upload at least 3 music videos (videos with music not necessarily actual music videos)...The only reason I would be wrong about that is if YouTube's rules say you have to distribute music to them.

Q: Sam Johnson asked, “Is there a way to use your own indie label with Spotify?”

A: You mean send them music directly? No, they got rid of that program. You have to go through a digital distributor after you created your label locally.

Q: Son Kakarot asked, “Be honest. Is it best to pay & enroll in a music course for marketing, rather than learning it all on your own?”

A: Depends on a lot of factors. This course (Ari’s Take Academy) is vetted for its viability. It saves a lot of time and effort to do it yourself. Sometimes it’s better to learn from an expert than to become the expert yourself. It also depends on your resources. If you have patience you can save money…if you have no patience you have to pay more.
