The Road to Terry - 033 - Working with Eghe Nimose

This summer I got a message that I usually get. It was a request for me to be on a song. I’m normally openminded to all of these request. The catch is artist rarely follow up. Emails come in and ask if I want to collaborate. I respond with send me some ideas. Then the artist gets ghost. That’s typically how that goes, and it keeps me from having to do music I don’t want to. People expected me to be prepared for them, and that’s not the way the music business works.

The request this past summer was different. Eghe Nimose actually followed up. He responded with a couple records that I liked. We clicked because of the music and because I could tell he had his shit together. Those are always the best people to work with.

Eghe is a 37 year old Nigerian musician. He makes Congolese Rumba, Reggae, Highlife, and Dub music. All forms of music that are totally new to me.

He wanted me to be a part of a remix to a record he had out. It’s called “Let You Go” (Listen Here). I watched the video, I listened to the instrumental, and I got inspired. I sat down and imagined letting go of something that wasn’t good for me. The verse came right out and I laid it down a few days later. I sent it back, and fast-forward to today. I’ve locked in my first international collaboration with a great artist.
