The Road to Terry - 007 - Meditation

Yesterday’s blog spoke about how I’m currently in the middle of moving across town. This post comes from past me not present me. Speaking of being present. I heard something the other day saying that you can never be in your past nor your future. You can only be in your present. That’s it. The idea of that usually relieves me of the pressure I apply on myself.

I’ve been meditating for years to soften that pressure and recently I stopped meditating as much. I’ve gone this entire year without it. How? I don’t know. It’s 2020, everyone should be meditating right now. I certainly didn’t realize how much clarity it provides me. I didn’t realize how it keeps me from feeling anxious throughout the day. It just helps.

Honestly, I can’t say I didn’t know. I wrote a whole book about creativity and anxiety. The practice is a reminder that I need it. Everyday. Moving around without meditation for me is like taking paintballs to bare skin. It’s my armor. It helps me not react to dumb shit from internal and external places. I feel better with it, so I believe this is the last time that I’ll let it lapse.
